A Culinary Celebration: World Chaîne Day at Xóm Mới Garden, Đà Nẵng

On World Chaîne Day, April 20th, 2024, the vibrant culinary scene of Đà Nẵng shone brightly at Xóm Mới Garden, where guests from all walks of life gathered not just to savor exquisite dishes but to share a unique gastronomic adventure. While the original plan to serve Hủ tiếu was unexpectedly disrupted, the spirit of culinary exploration remained undimmed.

Xóm Mới Garden in Đà Nẵng, though smaller than its Nha Trang counterpart, brought its own charm with offerings from two of its renowned brands: Smoke BBQ and Ỉn Ơi - Famous Vietnamese Cuisine. This new and lively spot in Đà Nẵng proved to be a perfect backdrop for an event centered around the joys of food and community.

Originally, many guests anticipated enjoying a classic bowl of Hủ tiếu. However, due to the unforeseen closure of Hủ Tiếu Kỳ Kỳ, our venue had to be changed last minute. Undeterred, we shifted our celebration to Xóm Mới Garden, where the menu's diversity truly came to the fore, featuring delightful dishes such as phở khô and a variety of phở, which intriguingly refers not just to the soup but to the noodles themselves.

The BBQ dishes were a highlight, earning high praise for their rich flavors and perfect grilling technique while the array of Vietnamese snacks continually delighted guests with their variety and taste. The versatile menu of Xóm Mới Garden aligned beautifully with our theme of local specialties, demonstrating that even unexpected changes can result in wonderful culinary discoveries.

In true World Chaîne Day spirit, each guest brought a bottle of wine to share, celebrating our global mission to promote the traditions of La Chaîne des Rôtisseurs. This year, we added an innovative twist by embracing the broad interpretation of the Vietnamese word rượu (meaning liquor), allowing for a creative expansion of what guests could bring. Among the traditional wines from California, Alsace, and Bordeaux, attendees also enjoyed Japanese sake and Azenja—a special herbal spirit meticulously crafted by James Spears, a master of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Vietnam.

As we shared stories and savored each dish and sip, World Chaîne Day at Xóm Mới Garden in Đà Nẵng was not just a meal; it was a testament to the power of food to bring people together. It was a celebration of resilience, diversity, and the communal joy of discovering new tastes and toasting to life’s unexpected turns. We look forward to more such gatherings, where food and friendship are always on the menu.
